     Hello ladies,
     I want to be in this group either! I have to admit, that I didn't read all the posts, but I will do my best to be active writer. I was learning english from my nursery, so it's like from 3 years old, but when I came to England I understood that those lessons which I get in nursery, school and college was not very useful for me. In Lithuania they teach us American English, so it's a bit different what are you hearing here in United Kingdom. My speech is far away from perfect, but the most important thing is to try speak all the time and don't feel any fears or shame.

     that's what I told few pages before never ever be afraid express yourself...tiny mistakes become invisible if your conversation is interesting to the other person

     Why people say that at school in Lithuania they were taught american english? I learnt british english and teach it as well,why do you say so? Can you prove?

     Few examples:
     In school they said that I need to say children garden. British never saying like that, they calling that place nursery.
     And how you saying word Can is different (cia jau rasysiu lietuviskai mokykloje visada sakydavo: CEN, Anglijoje tariama CAN).

     My school wasnt lucky with English teachers-nearly every year a new person .I could understand every word even i didnt know the meaning.Anyway it was long time ago.But it wasnt what they tought me at school.

     These two examples are far away from american english
     American english differs in past simple and past perfect usage,plus lift and elevator,truck and lorry these are american english,but children garden i have never heard this word,nursery i suppose for small children,kindergarten for older children
     Pronounciation of can depends from a teacher may be she wasn`t strong in pronounciation

     There are no place like children garden in England at all. I was teached in my school like that. And about teachers, as one mummy said, I had like different teacher every year, so it was heard from different people.
